Saturday Workshop Of Patterns

This Saturday I was asked to run a workshop for children on creating patterns like the ones I design for my portraits. I set up the tables with wild flowers from my garden, for the children to look at and draw and paint. I then asked them to simplify the flower drawing to create a template they can then use to draw around and repeat. I used cereal boxes as the card is just the right strength and not too hard to cut with scissors.
They were then given a pre-prepared sheet of watercolour paper with a grid to help them create a pattern. They all had their own ideas too, of animals they wanted to draw and anchors from their home town of Holyhead/Caergybi. Here are the wonderful results below...
